Location: Lenexa, KS
Reports To: Director of Operations / President
Working Hours: 8am – 5pm
Size of Operations: 8 employees
Job Summary: A global supply chain provider specialized in auto and industrial parts is seeking a dynamic and versatile Operations Manager to lead their Lenexa facility. You will be overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of a manufacturing and distribution facility. This pivotal role requires a hands-on leader capable of overseeing all aspects of daily operations, from human resources and purchasing to supply chain management, customer service, warehouse management, and basic financial oversight. You’ll be responsible for driving efficiency, ensuring compliance, and fostering a positive work environment for the team of 8 employees. While they don’t expect formal accounting or HR expertise, a solid understanding of P&L statements and the ability to manage a small team effectively are essential. This role is ideal for a proactive individual who excels in a fast-paced environment and can provide comprehensive reports to corporate leadership.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Team Leadership & Employee Relations (20%): • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management. • Set clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews. • Cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment, resolving conflicts promptly and effectively. • Identify training and development needs, facilitating learning opportunities to enhance employee skills. • Manage attendance, time off, and maintain accurate employee records. • Enforce safety protocols and company policies, ensuring a safe work environment, and manage workers’ compensation claims. • Maintain accurate employee files and timekeeping records. • Address employee relations issues, fostering a positive and productive atmosphere. • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries, ensuring clear and timely communication.
2. Operational Administration & Reporting (20%): • Oversee general office administration, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. • Manage basic financial tasks, including processing accounts payable and accounts receivable, and reporting financial data to corporate. • Prepare and submit regular, comprehensive operational reports to corporate leadership. • Manage local permits, licenses, and compliance requirements.
3. Procurement & Inventory Management (20%): • Manage the procurement of goods and services, adhering to budgetary guidelines. • Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers. • Oversee inventory levels, ensuring accurate stock tracking and efficient inventory management. • Process purchase orders and manage receiving procedures. • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance.
4. Supply Chain & Logistics (20%): • Manage the end-to-end flow of goods, ensuring timely and efficient delivery to customers. • Monitor incoming and outgoing shipments, tracking supply chain performance metrics. • Optimize logistics and transportation processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs. • Collaborate with suppliers and logistics providers to resolve supply chain challenges.
5. Customer Service Excellence (15%): • Lead the team in delivering exceptional customer service, aiming for high customer satisfaction. • Oversee the handling of customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring timely and effective resolutions. • Maintain and update customer service policies and procedures. • Monitor customer feedback, addressing complex inquiries and escalated complaints. • Provide leadership, training, and support to customer-facing employees, fostering a customer-centric culture.
6. Warehouse & Facility Management (5%): • Oversee basic warehouse organization, ensuring efficient storage and retrieval of goods. • Manage routine facility maintenance and repairs, maintaining a safe and clean environment. • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations within the warehouse and facility.
Qualifications: • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, ideally within a manufacturing, distribution, or related environment. • Solid understanding of core operational areas, including procurement, supply chain fundamentals, customer service principles, and basic financial literacy (P&L understanding), with exposure to HR and warehouse operations • Proven ability to lead and manage small teams effectively. • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. • Strong analytical and organizational abilities. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant operational software. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. • Knowledge of local regulations and compliance requirements.
