What You’ll Do

• Operate a yard goat to safely move, stage, and position trailers throughout the yard.
• Back trailers into dock doors, staging areas, and designated parking locations.
• Perform coupling and uncoupling of trailers.
• Conduct basic equipment inspections and report any safety concerns.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, yard personnel, and dock teams to ensure efficient trailer movement.
• Follow all yard safety procedures and operational guidelines.
• Support peak-season operations by maintaining safe and productive yard flow.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months of yard hostling experience within the past 3 years.
• Previous experience operating a yard goat or similar yard tractor required.
• Strong trailer maneuvering skills in a fast-paced transportation, warehouse, or distribution environment.
• Ability to safely position trailers in tight spaces and busy yard environments.
• Dependable with the ability to work flexible schedules, including weekdays and weekends.

Driver Requirements

• Valid driver’s license required (CDL not required).
• Ability to perform blindside backing safely and efficiently.
• Acceptable driving record.
• Ability to follow dispatch instructions and yard safety procedures.
• Strong awareness of surroundings while operating equipment around personnel, trailers, and dock areas.
• Must be available to work overnight shifts as scheduled.

What You Will Do

As a Yard Hostler Non-CDL you will safely operate vehicles to transport goods, materials, or equipment while following established routes, schedules, and safety regulations. You will perform vehicle inspections, maintain required documentation, communicate with dispatch or customers as needed, and help ensure deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and on time while maintaining a professional appearance and commitment to customer service.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while safely operating a vehicle.
• Ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift, move, or secure freight and materials when required by the assignment.
• Ability to perform vehicle inspections and work safely in varying weather and road conditions.

Preferred Experience

• Previous professional driving, delivery, transportation, or logistics experience is preferred.
• Experience operating commercial vehicles, delivery trucks, box trucks, or tractor-trailers is beneficial depending on the assignment.
• Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), GPS navigation, routing software, or transportation documentation is considered an asset.
