What You’ll Do

• Operate a yard goat/hostler truck to move trailers throughout the warehouse facility and yard.
• Switch loaded and empty trailers between dock doors and designated yard locations.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Chock trailer wheels and maintain safe operating procedures at all times.
• Complete up to 60+ trailer moves per shift in a fast-paced environment.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, dispatch, and supervisors.
• Identify and report safety concerns, equipment issues, or yard hazards.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of yard hostling experience within the last 3 years.
• Valid Class A CDL and current DOT Medical Card required.
• Experience operating a yard goat, terminal tractor, or hostler vehicle.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work efficiently in a busy yard environment.
• Must be at least 22 years of age.

Driving Requirements

• Clean driving record with no more than 3 moving violations, at-fault accidents, or a combination of both within the past 36 months.
• No DUI or reckless driving convictions within the past 5 years.
• Ability to safely maneuver trailers in tight spaces and congested yard areas.
• Commitment to following all company safety policies and DOT regulations.

What You Will Do

As a CDL A Yard Hostler you will safely operate vehicles to transport goods, materials, or equipment while following established routes, schedules, and safety regulations. You will perform vehicle inspections, maintain required documentation, communicate with dispatch or customers as needed, and help ensure deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and on time while maintaining a professional appearance and commitment to customer service.

• Must be able to operate a yard goat to move trailers within warehouse facility and move to other yard
• Moving trailers from dock to dock switching out empty trailers with full trailers.
• Hostler will perform pre and post trips daily, chock rear wheels and be aware of safety hazards.
• Hostler will be moving up to 60+ moves per shift, and must be able to work in fast paced environment
• Hostler must have strong communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while safely operating a vehicle.
• Ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift, move, or secure freight and materials when required by the assignment.
• Ability to perform vehicle inspections and work safely in varying weather and road conditions.

Preferred Experience

• Previous professional driving, delivery, transportation, or logistics experience is preferred.
• Experience operating commercial vehicles, delivery trucks, box trucks, or tractor-trailers is beneficial depending on the assignment.
• Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), GPS navigation, routing software, or transportation documentation is considered an asset.
