Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Vocational training, welding certification, or technical education is beneficial.
Experience Requirements
- 3–5 years of structural steel fitting experience
- Must have experience reading and interpreting shop fabrication drawings
- Minimum 2 years of handrail and guardrail fabrication experience
- Experience with band saws required
- Pipe bender experience preferred
- Must pass a welding test
- Read and interpret structural steel blueprints and fabrication plans
- Layout, fit, and assemble metal components to specification
- Perform accurate measurements using weld gauges, tape measures, and other tools
- Cut materials using torches and fabrication equipment
- Follow welding procedures and quality standards
- Operate shop power tools and hand tools safely
- Maintain and properly store equipment after use
- Assist in various production areas as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, structural welding, or production environments is preferred.
- Experience using grinders, saws, cutting equipment, and metal fabrication tools is beneficial.
- Knowledge of weld inspection, blueprint interpretation, and quality control procedures is considered an asset.
- Individuals who demonstrate craftsmanship, dependability, and a commitment to continuous improvement are well positioned for success as a Rail Fabricator.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in welding positions throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift metal components, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely wear welding helmets, gloves, and required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to safely work around welding equipment, sparks, heat, and fabrication machinery while following established safety procedures.

What You Will Do
As a Rail Fabricator you will prepare materials, set up welding equipment, perform welding operations, inspect completed welds, read blueprints, verify measurements, and help fabricate metal components according to engineering specifications. You will maintain welding equipment, follow quality standards, and support safe, efficient manufacturing operations while producing consistent, high-quality work.
A Rail Fabricator contributes to manufacturing operations by producing high-quality welded assemblies using welding equipment and established fabrication procedures. This position requires welding expertise, mechanical aptitude, and commitment to quality.
The Rail Fabricator supports production through careful material preparation, accurate welding techniques, and consistent inspection of completed work while maintaining safe operating practices. Precision and reliability are central to professional success.
