Location: Fairfield, VA
Salary: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
Monday – Friday

Looking for Cost Accounting Manager jobs in Fairfield where financial expertise helps organizations succeed? The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, financial analysis, and reporting activities. This role partners closely with operations and supply chain teams to improve cost visibility, strengthen accounting processes, and provide meaningful financial insights that support business decision-making and organizational growth.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of cost accounting experience or 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Previous experience as a Cost Accounting Manager, Senior Cost Accountant, Accounting Manager, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, and inventory valuation
  • Experience working with ERP/accounting systems and financial data management
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large data sets
  • Experience developing or maintaining standard costs preferred
  • Manufacturing or industrial accounting experience preferred
  • Experience improving accounting processes, controls, or reporting systems preferred
  • Experience working closely with operations and supply chain teams preferred
Job Duties
  • Lead the development and maintenance of product and manufacturing cost information
  • Manage month-end cost accounting activities, inventory analysis, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Analyze production costs, variances, trends, and profitability opportunities
  • Maintain costing methodologies and ensure consistent application across operations
  • Partner with supply chain and operations teams to evaluate manufacturing activity and inventory movement
  • Develop reports and analytical tools to measure manufacturing performance and product profitability
  • Review inventory valuation and investigate discrepancies
  • Improve accounting processes, systems, and internal controls related to costing and inventory
  • Support annual physical inventory activities and reconciliations
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and analysis
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to review and analyze large volumes of financial and operational data
  • Ability to occasionally walk manufacturing and warehouse areas as needed
  • Strong visual attention to detail when reviewing reports and financial records
