What You’ll Do

• Operate a Yard Goat/Yard Hostler with an automatic transmission
• Move containers and 53′ trailers within the yard
• No touch freight
• No unloading
• Move trailers/containers between the dock door and yard locations
• Lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
• Exit the yard mule and chock rear trailer wheels during loading operations
• Verify trailers are clear before moving equipment
• Move approximately 30–50 trailers/containers per shift
• Pulling containers from dock doors, relocating trailers within the yard, frequent backing, and following all customer safety procedures
• Must be comfortable using onboard computer systems and working independently in a busy yard environment

Driving Requirements

• 22+ years of age
• Valid license
• DOT Medical Card
• FMCSA Clearinghouse registered and clear MVR
• 1 year of yard hostling experience (within the past 3 years)
• No more than 3 moving violations/at-fault accidents (within the past 3 years)
• No DUI, reckless driving, or serious violations (within the past 5 years)

As a Yard Hostler you will safely operate vehicles to transport goods, materials, or equipment while following established routes, schedules, and safety regulations. You will perform vehicle inspections, maintain required documentation, communicate with dispatch or customers as needed, and help ensure deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and on time while maintaining a professional appearance and commitment to customer service.
