Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred but not required.
- 3–5+ years of experience processing high-volume, full-cycle payroll.
- Experience managing payroll across multiple states with a employees are paid accurately and on time while helping build scalable payroll processes for continued growth. You’ll work alongside a collaborative Finance and HR team in an strong understanding of varying state tax and labor regulations.
- Working knowledge of payroll accounting, payroll reconciliations, and general ledger coding.
- Experience preparing payroll journal entries and reconciling payroll accounts.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data reconciliation.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
- Experience supporting rapid organizational growth.
- Knowledge of payroll system implementations or process automation.
- Experience with month-end close procedures and financial reporting preferred.
Job Duties:
- Process full-cycle payroll for a high-volume, multi-state employee population on a weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly basis.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Review, audit, and reconcile payroll data including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, bonuses, commissions, and benefit deductions.
- Maintain and validate employee payroll records, tax withholdings, direct deposits, and other payroll-related information.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries and ensure payroll transactions are accurately coded to the general ledger.
- Partner with the Accounting team to reconcile payroll accounts, resolve discrepancies, and support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Assist with payroll tax reporting, W-2 processing, quarter-end reconciliations, and annual payroll audits.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, multi-state tax regulations, and company policies.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure accurate employee data and payroll changes.
- Support payroll system enhancements, process improvements, and implementation of best practices as the organization continues to grow.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information.
