Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Shift Options: 1st Shift, 7 AM-3 PM or 2nd Shift, 3 PM-11 PM

As an Automotive Paint Quality Inspector in Carey, your job is to protect the process. You’ll check, measure, and approve the work that keeps production moving forward.

Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Automotive Paint Quality Inspector Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of related automotive paint, quality inspection, or manufacturing quality experience required.
  • Previous experience inspecting automotive paint, cosmetic finishes, or Class A surfaces is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to identify paint defects, surface contamination, read-through, sink marks, and other cosmetic imperfections.
  • Strong visual inspection skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to consistently follow detailed quality standards and inspection procedures.
  • Comfortable working in an automotive manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to use a flashlight and quality certification stickers as part of the inspection process.
  • Steel-toe shoes are required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to accurately report quality concerns.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and inspection accuracy.

Physical Capabilities:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform inspection activities throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift products or materials weighing up to 50 pounds when required.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment with accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain visual focus and attention to detail while inspecting products in manufacturing or warehouse environments.
Automotive Paint Quality Inspector Job Duties:
  • Inspect automotive hoods and fenders for paint, surface, and cosmetic quality defects.
  • Perform detailed visual inspections of Class A automotive surfaces using a flashlight and established quality standards.
  • Identify missing spot prime, exposed SMC, surface contaminants, excessive dirt, and other finish defects.
  • Inspect hoods for excessive read-through, sink marks, and visible bond lines affecting surface appearance.
  • Verify hoods and fender extensions are properly secured to racks for safe transport.
  • Inspect one hood and two fenders per rack for specified quality concerns.
  • Accurately identify, document, and report nonconforming automotive parts.
  • Apply QLS certification stickers to parts that meet established inspection requirements.
  • Follow inspection procedures, quality criteria, and customer specifications.
  • Maintain consistent inspection accuracy in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
