Job Duties

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas
• Perform routine custodial tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal
• Clean windows and assist with conference room and event setups
• Operate custodial equipment, power tools, and housekeeping machinery safely
• Maintain custodial closets, storage areas, and cleaning supplies
• Perform minor repairs and furniture assembly as needed
• Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, and safety concerns
• Follow proper chemical handling and storage procedures
• Complete preventative maintenance on custodial equipment
• Follow all safety guidelines and perform additional duties as assigned

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required

Experience Requirements

• Entry-level opportunity, no prior custodial experience required
• Ability to follow safety procedures and workplace policies
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable using cleaning equipment, tools, and supplies
• Ability to pass required criminal background screening
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic preferred

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull throughout the shift
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions

What You Will Do

As a Custodian you will clean and maintain assigned work areas by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing, emptying waste containers, restocking supplies, and performing routine facility upkeep. You will help maintain safe, organized, and sanitary environments while following established cleaning procedures and workplace safety standards.

• Operates power tools and environmental housekeeping equipment.
• Performs manual labor both indoors and out, in all weather conditions.
• Must follow all safety rules and be able to pass drug and/or alcohol tests when required.
• Performs minor repairs and assembles furniture as needed.
• Performs routine tasks as it relates to trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, window cleaning, conference room setups, etc.
• Maintains work area such as custodial closets, storage rooms, supply rooms and custodial carts.
• Reports facility components, equipment and tools needing repairs to head custodian.
• Uses cleaning supplies, tools and equipment as directed by head custodian, principal/supervisor and/or designee.
• Reports all injuries, accidents and damages of facilities and equipment to head custodian.
• Performs routine and periodic housekeeping tasks, maintaining cleanliness of the facility to include restrooms, classrooms, offices, etc.
• Keeps all chemicals secured and properly stored.
• Maintains MSDS on hand for all products used and uses only products provided by the school system for cleaning.
• Performs preventative maintenance on all custodial equipment and tools.
• Performs other duties as requested.
