CNC Machine Set Up Operator
Location: Buffalo Grove, IL
Pay Rate: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour
Schedule: 1st Shift | 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM | Monday – Friday

Education Requirements

• Associate degree in Manufacturing, Machining, CNC Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and hands-on machining experience considered.
• Basic understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and manufacturing processes required.

Experience Requirements

• 1+ years of experience operating and setting up CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Lasers, or Robotic Welding equipment.
• Experience performing minor CNC program edits, tool offset adjustments, and machine troubleshooting.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.
• Experience interpreting blueprints, work orders, engineering drawings, and machining specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and tooling adjustments.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and quality assurance procedures.
• Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve machining issues.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shift.
• Capable of lifting, carrying, and handling materials, tools, and machine components as needed.
• Manual dexterity required to operate machinery, measuring equipment, and hand tools.
• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while following all safety policies and 5S standards.

Job Duties

• Set up and operate CNC Mills, Lathes, Lasers, and Robotic Welders to produce high-quality parts.
• Perform light CNC program edits, adjust offsets, set tool registers, and verify machine settings.
• Read blueprints and GD&T specifications to ensure accurate machining and production requirements.
• Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using precision measuring tools to maintain quality standards.
• Troubleshoot machining issues, replace worn tooling, and support continuous production efficiency.
• Complete daily preventive maintenance, production logs, and quality documentation.
• Follow safety regulations, maintain a clean work area, and communicate production updates across shifts.
