As a Cost Accountant, you’ll play a key role in analyzing manufacturing costs, managing inventory accounting, and providing financial insights that support business decisions. You’ll work closely with operations and finance teams to improve efficiencies, control costs, and help drive profitability while ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Professional accounting certifications or continuing education are beneficial.
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and financial analysis
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and standard costing preferred
- CPA, CMA, or other professional accounting certification preferred
- Prepare and analyze monthly cost reports, financial statements, and variance analyses
- Maintain standard costing systems and support annual cost updates
- Analyze labor, material, overhead, and production costs to identify trends and cost-saving opportunities
- Perform inventory accounting, reconciliations, cycle counts, and physical inventory support
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Review manufacturing variances and recommend improvements to profitability and efficiency
- Support budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditure tracking, and financial analysis projects
- Partner with operations leadership to monitor KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to review detailed financial documents and perform accurate data analysis.
- Ability to occasionally lift office materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform normal office duties while maintaining productivity and attention to detail throughout the workday.

As a Cost Accountant you will prepare and analyze financial reports, maintain general ledger accounts, reconcile financial records, support budgeting activities, monitor financial transactions, assist with audits, ensure compliance with accounting standards, prepare journal entries, and help provide accurate financial information that supports business operations and strategic decision-making.
