The Senior Graphics Technician develops, creates, and designs a wide range of visual concepts, graphics, layouts, media, infographics, and materials for the City. This role provides guidance and oversight to lower-level staff and helps centralize graphic design requests. The position functions at the journey level, working independently on moderately complex projects while supporting workflow coordination and ensuring quality and consistency in design outputs.
You take initiative. You drive results.
Here’s what you need to succeed:
- High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED).
- Two years of experience in the design and preparation of graphic or commercial art, camera-ready art work, computer-generated text, and images.
- An Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.
- Knowledge of design principles, layout, and color harmony
- Experience creating print and digital materials
- Understanding of printing processes, materials, and equipment
Here’s what will push your application over the top:
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects
- Experience with branding, marketing campaigns, and public outreach communications
- Experience designing for both print and digital platforms, including newsletters, infographics, presentations, signage, and web graphics
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision and direction
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and produce visual materials for publications, meetings, events, and presentations
- Develop layouts for drawings, charts, forms, diagrams, and other graphic content
- Coordinate graphic projects from concept through final production
- Create posters, signage, and illustrative materials, including data visualizations
- Develop and revise graphics using desktop publishing and design software
- Review and edit all materials to ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness
- Prepare camera-ready artwork and basic photography for design projects
- Collaborate with departments to develop effective graphic presentation concepts
