New Hire Instructions

Congratulations on being selected to work at Ace Hardware!

Welcome to Ace Hardware’s Retail Service Center! This facility is one of the largest in the network and operates in a climate-controlled warehouse environment supporting store distribution.

As a Warehouse Specialist, you’ll play a key role in operations by working with equipment, moving product, and supporting distribution processes. This is a fast-paced, active role with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and reliability.

How to Check-In

First Day:

  • Report at 8:00 AM on your scheduled start date
  • All new hires will work day shift for the first week of training
  • Check in at the main entrance/security desk
  • Ask for the orientation contact
  • Primary contact: Molly (backup contact may be provided as needed)

Ongoing:

  • Badge/access instructions will be provided during orientation

Orientation Information

  • Begins at 8:00 AM on start date
  • Includes safety training, equipment overview, and facility walkthrough
  • First week is completed on day shift regardless of assigned shift
  • After training, employees transition to their assigned shift

  • High level of movement and equipment use
  • Some roles involve working at heights
  • Strong reliability and attendance required

3rd Shift

Sunday–Wednesday (4×10 schedule)

  • Hours:
    • 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM
  • Overtime: Typically before shift (30–90 minutes early) or add needed for business demand 

1st Shift

Sunday–Thursday

  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Overtime: Typically after shift or as needed for business demand

Employee Policies

Time Clock + Pay

Time Clock Procedures
  • Timekeeping procedures reviewed during orientation
  • Employees must clock in/out daily
  • Report any issues to a supervisor immediately
Pay Rate

Contact your Onsite Representative to get information on pay rates.

Pay Schedule
  • Paydays are every Friday.
  • Pay period is from Monday to Sunday
  • and is paid the following Friday.
  • You have 2 ways to receive your paycheck:
    • Direct Deposit
    • Skylight Pay Card.

Attendance & Shifts

  • Strong attendance is critical
  • 2+ unplanned absences within first 90 days may impact assignment
  • Employees must communicate proactively if late or absent
  • First 90 days are an evaluation period
Requesting Time Off:

Pre-scheduled appointments/time off need to be communicated to their supervisor and supplier in advance. The sooner we know the better we can plan and meet the request. Otherwise, the expectation is they are onsite on time every day.

2 or more tardies and/or absences during training evaluation period is considered unsatisfactory and will be addressed by the supervisor/staffing agency and can result in termination

Lunch / Other Policies

  • Two paid 15-minute breaks
  • One 30-minute unpaid lunch
  • Breakrooms include:
    • Microwaves
    • Refrigerators
    • Vending/kitchen options for food and drinks

Additional policies will be reviewed onsite (safety, cell phone, etc.)

Dress Code

  • Dress comfortably for physical work
  • Acceptable: T-shirts, jeans/shorts, sweats, hats
  • Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes required (no sandals, Crocs, or open-toed shoes)
  • Clothing must be safe, clean, and free of inappropriate graphics
  • Avoid loose or hazardous items

PPE:
  • All PPE is provided onsite
  • Steel toe boots are not required
