Staffmark is seeking a dedicated and experienced Machine Operator for our client in Houston, TX. This temp-to-hire opportunity is perfect for someone with a background in metal processing and a passion for working with precision machinery.

Pay Rate: $17+/hr (Based on Experience)

Available Shifts:

• 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Job Overview:

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating slitting machines to process metal coils into precise widths and lengths. You’ll play a key role in ensuring quality output for customer orders while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate slitting machines for steel, aluminum, or other metals
• Align and adjust slitter knives and tooling for accurate cutting
• Inspect incoming coils for defects and validate material specifications
• Use measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and tape measures
• Monitor machine operation and adjust as necessary for optimal output
• Label, band, and package finished coils
• Record production data including order details, scrap, and downtime
• Perform preventative maintenance and report mechanical issues
• Assist with loading/unloading materials using overhead cranes or forklifts (if certified)

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• 1–3 years of experience operating slitter machines or in metal processing
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints or work orders
• Forklift and overhead crane operation experience preferred
• Familiarity with metal types, gauges, and coil handling
• Skilled in using precision measurement tools
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to safety and quality
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods of time
