Staffmark is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lab Technician for a forward-thinking food production company in Alexandria, MN. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for candidates with a science background and hands-on food lab experience.
Pay Rate:
- $25.00/hr
- Additional $2.00 shift differential for night shifts
Shift:
- 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (Rotating schedule)
Job Summary:
In this role, you will perform essential laboratory tests to ensure product quality and packaging standards are met. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, precision, and adherence to quality protocols are key to success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct pH and solids analysis on pre- and post-processed products
- Monitor and test package integrity
- Perform teardowns and routine quality checks
- Conduct post-process CIP testing (ATP, allergen, microbial, visual)
- Maintain lab inventory, calibrate equipment, and manage retention pallets
- Communicate lab results with production staff and supervisors
- Complete detailed documentation and follow HACCP/GMP/SOP protocols
- Investigate spoilage issues and assist with customer quality requests
- Ensure clean, organized workspace and participate in safety efforts

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- A degree in Biology or a related field preferred
- Previous experience working in a food lab environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; Ceridian experience a plus
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Comfortable with repetitive tasks and standing for extended periods
- Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of aseptic processing and Lean Manufacturing is a plus
- Being bilingual in Spanish is beneficial
