Join Our Team as a Maintenance Mechanic!

Join our Staffmark team in Avery Island, LA, and play a vital role in maintaining the machinery that supports the production of iconic food products. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you’ll ensure equipment is up to the task, troubleshooting issues, performing repairs, and contributing to the overall success of the operation.
Schedule & Compensation:
Day Shift: 7 AM – 6 PM, Monday-Friday (10 – 12-hour shifts) | $21/hr.
Maintenance Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safety Policies, and company standards.
- Clean and maintain designated areas, including line assets during maintenance tasks.
- Perform preventive maintenance on high-speed filling lines (Depalletizers, fillers, cappers, labelers, cartoners, tray makers, case packers, palletizers, printers, etc.).
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues by observing equipment and using testing instruments to determine root causes.
- Monitor machinery to ensure proper operation and optimal speed.
- Disassemble defective parts using hand and power tools; inspect and replace as needed.
- Measure parts for dimensional changes using tools like calipers and micrometers.
- Collaborate with the team leader and maintenance planner to schedule downtime for maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain inventory for equipment, parts, and supplies, ensuring timely reordering.
- Prepare and document maintenance reports to track performance and trends.

Requirements:
- 2+ years of industrial electrical/mechanical experience within a production environment.
- Ability to read blueprints and wiring schematics.
- Ability to learn and operate a computerized work order system.
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to learn and grow.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools for mechanical repairs.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding role, requiring standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in hot and cold environments and with machinery in confined spaces.
