Staffmark is looking for an experienced and skilled Wood-Mizer Operator to join our team in Simsboro, LA. If you have hands-on experience operating Wood-Mizer sawmills and edgers, along with the ability to efficiently manage lumber milling operations and operate a CAT 950 wheel loader, we want to hear from you! This is a great direct-hire opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where safety, quality, and efficiency are top priorities.

Pay: $17 per hour

Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate Wood-Mizer sawmill and edger equipment to process logs and cut lumber to specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the sawmill and edger machinery.
• Monitor the milling process for efficiency and quality control, minimizing downtime.
• Safely operate a CAT 950 wheel loader to transport logs, lumber, and materials.
• Load raw materials and stack finished lumber in designated areas.
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
• Work with the production team to meet daily production goals.
• Assist in training new operators and maintaining equipment logs.

Qualifications:

• Experience operating Wood-Mizer sawmills and edgers.
• Proficient in operating a CAT 950 Wheel Loader or similar heavy machinery.
• Strong understanding of lumber milling processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain sawmill and edger equipment.
• Knowledge of safety standards in sawmill and equipment operations.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
• Ability to lift to 80 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
• A prior sawmill or lumber processing experience is preferred.
• Forklift certification and First Aid/CPR certification are a plus.
• Basic mechanical maintenance skills.
