Job Description:
Staffmark is excited to offer a direct hire opportunity for a skilled Microbiologist in Dallas, NC. This role is pivotal to our Food Safety and Quality team, where you’ll help ensure that our operations align with company goals and initiatives.
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
As a Microbiologist, you will collaborate closely with the Quality, Product Development, and Operations teams to provide scientific expertise and innovative solutions to food safety and quality challenges. Key responsibilities include inspecting and sampling incoming raw materials, conducting tests on in-process and finished products, and summarizing data from both internal and third-party testing. You will lead Environmental Monitoring Programs (EMP), train staff, and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Additionally, you will conduct risk assessments, resolve food safety and quality issues, support product launches, and design scientific studies that meet regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, sample, and test raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Submit samples and summarize testing data.
- Lead Environmental Monitoring Programs and train staff on GMP compliance.
- Conduct risk assessments and challenge studies.
- Provide technical expertise on food safety, sanitation, and quality issues.
- Develop and implement training programs on food safety and microbiological methods.
- Review and update microbiological methods and policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for operational transformation.
- Promote a culture of food safety through education and training.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Microbiology or Food Microbiology with 3+ years in the food/beverage industry, or M.S./Ph.D. with 2+ years of experience.
- Strong knowledge of food microbiology, including spoilage organisms and pathogens, with proficiency in laboratory practices.
- Hands-on experience in food safety for high-acid/low-acid beverages and thermal/chilled processing.
- Skills in project management, problem-solving, data interpretation, and effective communication. Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
