Position: Finance & Accounting Manager
Location: Torrance, CA (Hybrid Remote)

A global company in the finance industry is seeking an experienced Finance & Accounting Manager to join their team in Torrance, CA. Reporting directly to the local executive team and overseas headquarters, this position will be responsible for managing and overseeing the company’s accounting and financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of financial leadership experience, with expertise in general ledger management, balance sheets, income statements, and financial reporting. Proficiency in Japanese and/or exposure to Japanese culture is highly preferred. Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations of the accounting and finance functions. Monitor, analyze, and prepare financial reports, statements, and key performance indicators. Establish and enforce sound accounting methods, policies, and principles to ensure compliance with company standards. Prepare financial and budget reports, including forecasting, variance analysis, and risk assessment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide strategic advice on cost reduction and profit maximization. Ensure adherence to internal audit processes and JSox compliance requirements. Supervise and mentor accounting staff, supporting their professional development and succession planning. Review monthly financials and oversee activities within the accounting department. Respond to requests from the company’s headquarters in Japan, ensuring timely submission of documents, including Japanese financial reports. Continuously evaluate and improve department controls, systems, and processes to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy. Standardize and streamline accounting workflows to ensure consistency and improve task management. Take on special projects as needed to support business growth and financial objectives. Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role. Japanese bilingual proficiency or exposure to Japanese culture is highly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. Strong knowledge of general ledger, balance sheet, income statement, and financial reporting principles. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software or ERP systems. Previous experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a plus. Pay range minimum: $ 100,000.00
Pay range maximum: $ 140,000.00
The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
