Japanese Bilingual R&D Associate
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL (Onsite)
Classified: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Overview: As an R&D Associate, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative pneumatic solutions that are widely adopted across various industries, including factory automation and semiconductor manufacturing. The solutions offer a compelling combination of affordability, precision, and versatility, making them ideal for applications requiring the controlled movement of materials and fluids. R&D associates contribute to various aspects of the product lifecycle, from understanding customer needs to developing innovative solutions.
As the company expands its market presence in the United States, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development and success of the company. By contributing to sales efforts from an R&D perspective, you will help us understand customer needs, discuss applications, and collaborate with Japan R&D to deliver accurate technical communications and develop products that align with customer requirements. This role presents an exciting opportunity for career growth to lead and shape the future of the U.S. R&D operations with potential to advancement to Head of the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include but not Limited to: • Contribute to the development of new pneumatic products, from concept to commercialization for customers in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico market. • Develop a deep understanding of pneumatic products and their underlying mechanisms. • Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer needs and provide technical support. Demonstrate the functionality of products effectively to customers by applying technical expertise. • Work closely with quality control and assurance teams to ensure product excellence. • Engage in customer visit activities with sales and R&D leadership to understand customer technical needs and develop products that align with their requirements. Showcase products, explain the mechanisms, and offer tailored application guidance. • Collaborate with R&D teams in Japan to develop new products and promote them in the U.S. Market. • Assist the leadership to identify and articulate the unique needs of the US market and initiate requests for custom product development to the Japan HQ. • Utilize your technical expertise to effectively promote new products from Japan to the US market. • Organize and facilitate regular status sharing and discussion meetings with Japan HQ to ensure effective collaboration. • Others requested by Management.
Note: This role may involve working outside of regular business hours to attend meetings with colleagues in Japan. The company is committed to offering flexible work arrangements to minimize the impact on your work-life balance.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a equivalent combination of education and work experience. • Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). • Fluent in Japanese and English (Able to speak and write Japanese at a high level, equivalent to a business professional) • Demonstrated understanding of basic engineering principles such as mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and/or fluid dynamics. This can provide strong foundational knowledge applicable to the design and analysis of pneumatic systems. • Willing to learn how to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions. This includes addressing technical challenges related to pneumatic products. • Ability to work with the sense of ownership.
Preferable Requirements: • Experience in one or more of the following areas: sales, research and development, quality control, design, or manufacturing in the pneumatics industry or a related field, is preferred. • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD) for product design and optimization. • Ability to write clear and concise technical documentation to facilitate communication with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.

Pay range maximum: $ 70,000.00
The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
